【摘要】:1.1Thesereferenceradiographsillustratevarioustypesandseveritylevelsofdiscontinuitiesinaluminumfusionweldsthatmayberevealedbyradiographicexamination.Thesereferenceradiographsdonotspecifytheacceptablelevelofthesediscontinuities,rathertheyprovideavisualreferenceforcommunicatingtheacceptablelevel.Note1Thereferenceradiographsconsistofasetofeightplates(81/2by11in.(22by28cm)),coveringbasematerialuptoandincluding0.75in.(19mm)inthickness.1.2ThesereferenceradiographsarebasedontwonominalweldthicknessesinwroughtaluminumproductsandareapplicabletothethicknessrangesshowninTable1.Theweldswereproducedusingbasematerialplatesof6061and5083alloysand5356and4043gasmetal-arc(GMA)electrodes.Thesereferenceradiographsareintendedforuseinevaluatingradiographsofweldsinwroughtaluminumproducts.Theyarenotrecommendedforusewithrepairweldsincastmaterials;however,theyareappropriateforusewithassemblyorfabricationwelds.ReferenceradiographsforaluminumandmagnesiumcastingsareavailableinReferenceRadiographsE155andE505.1.3Theadjunctcontainsillustrationsofrepresentativegradedandungradeddiscontinuities.Table2liststhediscontinuitytypesandseveritiesillustratedforeachthicknessofbasematerial.Eachofthegradeddiscontinuitytypeshasfiveseveritylevels,1through5,inorderofincreasingseverity.Theungradeddiscontinuitiesareincludedforinformationalpurposes.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
