【摘要】:TheproceduredescribedinthispracticeisusedtodesignOGFCmixturesthatwillprovidegoodperformanceintermsofpermeability(tendingtoreducehydroplaningandpotentialforskidding),anddurabilitywhensubjectedtohighvolumesoftraffic.1.1Thispracticecoversthemixdesignofopen-gradedfrictioncourse(OGFC)usingthesuperpavegyratorycompactor(SGC)orothersuitableformsofcompaction.TheOGFCmixdesignisbasedonthevolumetricpropertiesofthemixintermsofairvoids,andthepresenceofstone-on-stonecontact.InformationfoundinGuideD6932shouldbereviewedbeforestartingthemixdesign.Whereapplicable,SpecificationD3666shouldbeappliedasaminimumforagenciestestingandinspectingroadandpavingmaterials.1.2ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
