【摘要】:ThisstandardprovidesapracticeforRIQRevaluationsoffilmandnon-filmimagingsystemswhenexposedthroughsteelorplasticmaterials.ThreealternatedataevaluationmethodsareprovidedinSection9.DeterminingRIQRrequiresthecomparisonofatleasttworadiographsorradiographicprocesseswherebytherelativedegreeofimagequalitydifferencemaybedeterminedusingtheEPSplaquearrangementofFig.1asarelativeimagequalityindicator(RIQI).InconjunctionwiththeRIQI,aspecifiedradiographictechniqueormethodmustbeestablishedandcarefullycontrolledforeachradiographicprocess.ThispracticeisdesignedtoallowthedeterminationofsubtlechangesinEPSthatmayarisetoradiographicimagingsystemperformancelevelsresultantfromprocessimprovements/changesorchangeofequipmentattributes.ThispracticedoesnotaddressrelativeunsharpnessofaradiographicimagingsystemasprovidedinPracticeE2002.ThecommonelementwithanyrelativecomparisonistheuseofthesameRIQIarrangementforbothprocessesunderevaluation.InadditiontothestandardevaluationmethoddescribedinSection9,theremaybeothertechniques/methodsinwhichthebasicRIQRarrangementofFig.1mightbeutilizedtoperformspecializedassessmentsofrelativeimagequalityperformance.Forexample,otherradiographicvariablescanbealteredtofacilitateevaluationsprovidedthesedifferencesareknownanddocumentedforbothprocesses.Wheremultipleradiographicprocessvariablesareevaluated,itisincumbentupontheuserofthispracticetocontrolthosenormalprocessattributestothedegreesuitablefortheapplication.SpecializedRIQRtechniquesmayalsobeusefulwithmicrofocusX-ray,isotopesourcesofradiationorwiththeuseofnon-filmradiographicimagingsystems.RIQRmayalsobeusefulinevaluatingimagingsystemswithalternatematerials(RIQIandbaseplate)suchascopper-nickeloraluminum.Whenusinganyofthesespecializedapplications,thespecificmethodortechniquesusedshallbeasspecifiedandapprovedbythecognizantengineeringauthority.1.1Thisstandardprovidesapracticewherebyindustrialradiographicimagingsystemsmaybecomparativelyassessedusingtheconceptofrelativeimagequalityresponse(RIQR).TheRIQRmethodpresentedwithinthispracticeisbasedupontheuseofequivalentpenetrametersensitivity(EPS)describedwithinPracticeE1025andsubsection5.2ofthispractice.Figure1illustratesarelativeimagequalityindicator(RIQI)thathasfourdifferentsteelplaquethicknesses(.015,.010,.008,and.005in.)sequentiallypositioned(fromtoptobottom)onax00BE;-in.thicksteelplate.Thefourplaquescontainatotalof14differentarraysofpenetrameter-typeholesizesdesignedtorendervariedconditionsofthresholdvisibilityrangingfrom1.92%EPS(atthetop)to.94%EPS(atthebottom)whenexposedtonominal200keVX-rayradiation.Eachx201C;EPSx201D;arrayconsistsof30identicalholes;thus,providingtheuserwithaquantityofthresholdsensitivitylevelssuitableforrelativeimagequalitativeresponsecomparisons.1.2Thispracticeisnotintendedtoqualifytheperformanceofaspecificradiographictechniquenorforassurancethataradiographictechniquewilldetectspecificdiscontinuitiesinaspecimenundergoingradiographicexamination.Thispracticeisnotintendedtobeusedtoclassifyorderiveperformanceclassificationcategoriesforradiographicimagingsystems.Forexample,performanceclassificationsofradiographicfilmsystemsmaybefoundwithinTestMethodE1815.1.3Thispracticecontainsanalternateprovisionwherebyindustrialradiographicimagingsystemsmaybec......
